Problem Solving
Skylights are designed to let in natural light and to give an open feel to a room, but too much sun can make the space uncomfortably bright and hot. These conditions can be resolved by properly treating the glass with window film. Many skylights have slightly tinted glass, but often this tint is not sufficient to control heat and glare. We can add film to this existing tinted glass to achieve the desired level of light and temperature.
Experience matters
Since most overhead glass is required by building codes to be safety laminated, there are many things to consider when choosing the proper film for the glass. If the wrong product is used, the integrity of the glass could be compromised. Campbell Window Film has a wealth of experience treating skylights. Plastic vs Glass
Many homes and commercial buildings have plastic dome-shaped or pyramid shaped skylights of various sizes. We cannot apply film to these plastic lenses because over time an “out-gassing” effect will cause the film to fail. In these cases we often replace the plastic with a modern dual paned flat glass panel. The cost is generally low because we use the existing opening and curbing. We simply remove the plastic and replace it with a new glass unit along with new flashing for a water-tight seal. We can customize this glass to control the light and heat coming through it. There are many choices and our qualified representative will help you determine the correct glass for your situation.
Accessibility
Often times skylights are located in tough to access areas. Leave that to us. We have many years of experience accessing the most difficult areas of residential and commercial buildings. We have every kind of lift equipment designed to get us to the glass safely and efficiently. For commercial applications we may suggest a weekend installation to avoid disruption during business hours.
